4º Fórum Seixal Saudável
  The 4 th edition of the healthy Seixal Forum was held on the 6 th and 7 th of April, at Quinta Valenciana, Fernão Ferro. Around 450 people participated, representing several institutions, such as public health services, health services users committees, elderly associations, schools, kindergartens and other educational institutions, universities, institutions that support children and youth, and others that pay assistance to women who are victims of violence, organizations representing deaf people, the handicapped, environmental interests, youth, sports, culture and leisure, ethnic minorities, social service, employment and training, political parties, unions, parish centres, municipalities of the Healthy Cities Portuguese Network, protection and civilian safety and autarchies.  
         
  The goals of this Forum were to diffuse and evaluate the work developed in the ambit of the Healthy Seixal Project, to discuss and implement the new Health development Plan for the next years (2003 – 2007) among the partners and participants, to reinforce the partnership network and promote the development of municipal structures, to share experiences in health promotion and quality of life, as well as to commemorate the World Health Day – 7 th of April.  
         
 
  The Closing Session of the Forum was presided by the Vice – Mayor of Seixal, Corália Loureiro, who presented a Declaration of Commitment allusive to the 4 th edition of the Healthy Seixal Forum, which was approved by unanimity. The main values and principles of the healthy Seixal Project were reinforced in this document: equity, health promotion, community participation and multisectoral participation, as well as the commitment to continue working in partnership for the improvement of health and quality of life in the Municipality of Seixal.
