The Healthy Seixal Project aims for the development of health in the Municipality of Seixal, and acts through partnerships established among several institutions in the community. This Project was created within the scope of the World Health Organization (WHO) Healthy Cities Movement, based on the European Healthy Cities Network, of which it has been a member since 1998, and on the Portuguese Healthy Cities Network, which it co-ordinates at a political and technical level since 2002.

The project is laid upon an organized structure, consisting of the Political Co-ordinator, the Technical Co-ordinator, a Steering Group, an Officer Group, the Healthy Seixal Project Office and the Healthy Seixal Forum.
